The Roswell Woman's Club 2008 Showcase Homes

History….Heritage….Hospitality

“Building Foundations in the Community”

March 9-March 30, 2008

Event Information

The 12 Annual Roswell Woman's Club 2008 Showcase Home Tour will feature three homes in Ivey Mills, a community of classic homes in Roswell.  Because the Ivey Mills site is land once owned by descendents of one of Roswell’s earliest residents, Francis Minhinnett, this location provided an opportunity to help link the past with the present in historic Roswell. Minhinnett, a stonemason, arrived in America from Plymouth, England at the invitation of Roswell King. He laid the foundation for Barrington Hall, one of the three historic city-owned homes in Roswell, and completed stone work for one of Roswell’s mills. Roswell Woman’s Club actively builds foundations in the community and the connection between this site, the Roswell Woman’s Club and our town provides the theme for our 2008 Tour – “History…Heritage…Hospitality”.

The three two-story custom estate homes in Ivey Mills, priced from $1.5 Million dollars to over $2.5 Million, are:  Heritage Hall, built by Glenn Knowles of Moncler Homes, LLC; Canton Place, built by Jason Rosen of Rosen Custom Homes, LLC and Vickery Manor built by Randall and Tyson Tharp of Tyson Homes, Inc. Ivey Mills, marketed by Jenny Pruitt &Associates New Homes Services, will have 22 homes when complete.

This year’s Showhouse Tour will comprise approximately 29,000 square feet of decorated space by 50 designers on a French country theme.  Among our returning designers are: Laurie Bean of Touch of Class Interiors, LaWayne Johnsen from Inspirations for the Home, Maxine  Hyland with Castle Ltd, Diane Johnson and Associates, Sandi Fogarty of Home Fashion Center, Violeta Gosolu of V.B. Design/Perfect Living and Clark Miller with Casual Image Furniture.

Each year funds raised from Showhouse tours go directly back into the North Fulton community with one-half as scholarships to area graduating high school students and special grants to support education. The other half goes to support other non-profit agencies, including North Fulton Community Charities, Roswell Historical Society, Groveway Community Group, Chattahoochee Nature Center, Georgia Ensemble Theater Conservancy and many others. Last year the Woman’s Club raised over $210,000.

A series of special events is held each year during the Showcase.  In previous years, these events included fashion shows, wine tastings and floral demonstrations.  This year, our intent is to creatively reflect our theme by incorporating the historical aspect of the homes, possibly through exhibits of local artifacts and cooking demonstrations using bygone utensils and methods.
